Tokyo is the most 3-dimensional city I have been to. Instead of shops and restaurants on the street floor, stretching far and wide, there are elevators that take you to places. So shopping and restaurant districts stretch far, wide and high. There are three (sometimes four) levels of roads for cars, one above another, and googlemaps is almost useless for driving, since it has no idea about the third dimension, and about which level you are on. And Wikipedia says there are 15 000 people per square kilometer living in the area where we stay.

All this is incredibly ugly if you look close - concrete, steel, neon, and I have never been a fan of big cities, - but if you are just speeding by on the third level highway at night, it is also strangely beautiful.
